Hello, and welcome to the website for Combustion Chamber Orchestra. We are a band based in Eugene, Oregon, that plays traditional Tango music, Nuevo and alternative Tango music, and various other kinds of music with a Tango twist.

We will be playing from about 5:30 or 5:45, for about an hour. The folks at VRI would love it it some Eugene tango dancers came out and spiced the event up a bit!
There will be a dance floor and refreshments, and the event is free!

We are honored to be given a chance to perform at ValenTango, a large and internationally-known tango festival in Portland from February 20-25.
We will be hosting our own FREE little milonga on Friday Feb 22 from Noon to 2 PM in the Cascade Ballroom, at the DoubleTree Hotel (where the event is taking place). This will be approximately during the lunch break between classes. We will not be performing the entire two hours; instead we will try to concentrate our performing to when dancers will be likely to wander in after classes. The rest of the time will be filled with recorded music.
We are very excited! Please spread the word. And remember to tip.

We would like to add some more players to some of our songs for a fuller sound. We are especially looking for:

Combustion Chamber Orchestra is looking for a pianist.
I (Damien) have been playing piano with the band since we formed, a year and a half ago, and I love playing tango on the piano. However, since we lost our beloved bandoneon player, David, earlier this year, who moved to pursue a degree, I have begun learning the bandoneon and hope to switch over to the playing it on most or all of our songs, and would like to focus on improving my ability on the instrument. However, we do not want to lose the piano in our sound.
- Must have experience playing in ensembles
- Must be very strong in terms of rhythm and tempo
- Must be able to read charts and lead sheets
- Willing to commit to weekly rehearsals of 2-3 hours each, plus gigs
- Must be willing to commit time and effort outside of rehearsal to familiarize themselves with technique and repertoire
- Already a lover of tango music and/or dance
- Desire and ability to improvise
- Desire and ability to arrange and/or compose
- Well-connected in the Eugene music scene and can procure gigs
- Possession of a PA system is a huge plus!
